Rail Joint

A rail joint, also known as a railway fish plate, joint bar, or splice bar, is a fastening component used to connect two sections of rail. It ensures stability and proper alignment within the track system, allowing for smooth and continuous rail operations.

Rail joints come in two main types based on the number of bolt holes:

  • 4-hole fish plates are commonly used for light steel rails.
  • 6-hole fish plates are typically used for heavy steel rails.

These components play a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity and performance of both light and heavy rail systems.
